Artist Note
Born in Dolpa, Nepal, and currently based in Varanasi, India, Akito is a contemporary visual artist. He is presently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at Banaras Hindu University.
Early in his artistic career, the discovery of his color blindness served as a pivotal turning point, prompting a bold shift away from realism. Channeling the initial frustration of this limitation into raw, expressive mark making, Akito discovered a profound connection to his inner landscapes.
This breakthrough completely redefined his artistic vision.
Today, his primary focus is creating metaphysical landscapes and connecting them with his lived moments. Akito’s works are the products of deep introspection, exploring his own behaviors, roots, and various chapters of his life.
As a multidisciplinary artist, he experiments with diverse materials and surfaces, translating his concepts across handmade paper, canvas, and architectural spaces while searching for something he knows will never be found.
I want my paintings to be ambiguous, where questions arise but have no definite answers.
