Akito was born in Dolpa, Nepal, and is based in Varanasi, India, where he is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at Banaras Hindu University.
Early in his practice, discovering he was color blind changed how Akito approached painting. He moved away from realism, channeling his initial frustration into raw, expressive marks that gave shape to his inner landscapes.
Akito now makes metaphysical landscapes shaped by lived experience, reflecting on his roots and different chapters of his life. He works across handmade paper, canvas, and architectural spaces, using each surface to explore questions that may never have a clear answer.
